6-Letter Wordle

A Harder Wordle Variant, Same Simple Rules

6-letter mode plays exactly like standard Wordle — six guesses, green/yellow/gray feedback — but the hidden word is always six letters long. That one extra letter meaningfully increases the number of valid words and letter combinations, so guesses that would have nailed a 5-letter puzzle often only narrow things down here.

New to the rules themselves? Start with How to Play Wordle, then come back — everything there applies to this mode too.

Why 6-Letter Words Play Differently

Longer words tend to include more common suffixes and letter pairs (like -ER, -ED, -ING roots shortened, or double letters), which changes which openers are actually useful. Words like GARDEN, PLANET, or MASTER work well as openers because they spread out common consonants across six distinct positions instead of clustering them. Prefer the Classic Length?

If six letters feels like too much at first, switch to 5-letter mode using the toggle above — your stats and streak carry over between both modes.
